Great video thank you so much. Military Wives is as formulaic as movies go, regardless the film is surprisingly good and it uses the formula really well. However it never aspires to be anything else preventing it from becoming a classic amongst the genre.
I haven't been familiar with the true story but from the start, you just know where it is all gonna go. It still works well but nothing is a surprise because of that. It still has some great moments and a fair amount of heart
It is seriously enjoyable and it is a likeable movie with a great cast. Kristen Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan are great here.
I'm sure there are many people who will like this film. I just can't see that much greatness in it. It's formulaic and does it's best to be a lovely and charming film but it does it in such a manipulative way, and I hate it when films do that. It is still worth watching though.

 

Military Wives was just absolutely brilliant. From the moment it started to the rolling credits, I did not move, I was 100% enthralled with the characters and the relationships they had. I cried many many times throughout, found bits heartbreaking, but still I came away feeling lighter with a warm glow inside.
I laughed, I cried and I cried some more. The last film I saw that was that moving, was Kramer vs Kramer. I loved it. If a rider leaves the course by crossing or breaking the tape they must return to the course at the point of exit, unless they do not gain a time advantage from crossing the tape, in which case they can continue with their run. [ citation needed] Riders start at intervals, often seeded from slowest to fastest, and courses typically take two to five minutes to complete with winning margins being often less than a second. Riders are timed with equipment similar to that used in downhill skiing. [1] History of competitive racing [ edit] The 1st downhill time-trial race took place in Fairfax, California on October 21, 1976 on a fireroad now referred to as Repack Road, [2] [3] [4] due to the need to repack the hub brake after each descent. [5] The bikes used were based on cruiser bicycles that had a drum or coaster brake that worked by pedalling backwards. The mechanism operated with a conical brake shoe being wound on a thread in a metal hub. To prevent the brake from seizing it was kept filled with grease. Heavy use during the descent would cause the brake to over heat, softening the grease and causing it to drain from the hub, requiring frequent repacking. (CNN) "Downhill" is an unfortunate title for a film that starts out with an intriguing cast pairing (Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Will Ferrell) and premise, before going you know where. The bottom line is a plot intended to make one consider life's big issues merely reminds us it's too short to sit through movies as muddled as this. Definitely not a comedy -- and indeed, the virtual opposite of a Valentine's Day movie -- the film was adapted from the 2014 Swedish title "Force Majeure" by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, in their directing debut, sharing script credit with Jesse Armstrong (the creator of HBO's "Succession"). The story begins with Pete (Ferrell) and Billie (Louis-Dreyfus) on a ski vacation with their two sons in the Austrian Alps. They hit the slopes, and the movie hits the skids. While there appears to be a degree of tension in the couple's relationship -- and Pete is clearly going through some things thanks to the death of his father months earlier -- the trip is getting along well enough until a scary moment, when an avalanche suddenly strikes. While Billie sits stunned with the boys, Pete leaps to his feet and runs. Everyone's OK, but that single moment -- his instinctive response to think of himself, not them, during a near-death experience -- becomes a growing source of friction, one that continues to fester the longer it goes unaddressed. What ensues is a painful stretch of pregnant pauses and uncomfortable silences, in a movie that runs less than 90 minutes but feels much, much longer. As such, we get purposefully, noticeably fake backdrops and back projection for driving sequences and title-cards made up of retro wallpaper and vintage products. It's all pleasingly done, but the artificiality of it all does sometimes mask the genuine heart that beats within the narrative and the warmth of the playing of an excellent cast that includes Bill Nighy, … It's like the director got handed the script for an earnest, moving drama about paternal relationships and then decided to mainline Wes Anderson and Richard Ayoade films for a week, deciding at the last minute to 'do that'. This is a huge tonal mess. Its aesthetic sensibilities completely undermine the emotional story at the heart of everything and not even Bill Nighy can hold it all together. Pretty great! Bill Nighy is completely perfect. This is deffo the best Nighy flick of the year, no pink cat things in sight. Supporting also lovely, all delivering some excellent lines of dialogue to much amusement. The further it strays into twee, faux-wes-anderson-ness the weaker it becomes, but thankfully half of the more attention seeking moments work. The sincere family-driven element of the story is the films core, and the focus around that as the story progresses works very well. I was hugely entertained and fairly heart-warmed by the conclusion. I laughed hard a good few times too! I can definitely see myself watching this again on tv or something. Its flaws are plain to see but I would whole heatedly recommend. Recent reviews This was the perfect part for Bill Nighy and the scrabble scene with Jenny Agutter and the terrific Tim McInnerny was the highlight of an interesting screenplay. This is a movie that more people should have seen. The dialogue and chatacters are really likeable and engaging on the one hand and frustrating on the other. A very enjoyable watch overall. Sam Riley is terrific. Bill Nighy has become our version of Tom Hanks at this point. Amazing performances from the whole cast in a story mixing heartbreak and comedy. Bill Nighy is wonderful, loved his northern accent and Alice Lowe's delivery is hilarious. I really enjoyed all the effort in creating the backgrounds of shots, framed picture of a local roundabout in the council office or amazing painted scenery behind the car in a driving shot. Love ♥️ Subtle performances by Nighy and Riley. You feel the tension yet the familial love in this charming and colorful movie. And the cinematography is spectacular.
